Hi Class Reps,

I am sorry but there is a change of venue for the Dinner and Dance 2009 as Pines is no longer available. The food quality is still the same and it is much more acessible. The new location is at Suntec City Guilde House at

The date is still the same, 14th March 2009 and registration starts at 6.30pm and the event will commence at 7.00pm. The price of the D&D is also subsidised to $45 due to the kind contribution from your Lecturers. Hence each Student will be refunded $10 on the actual day.

IF you have not claimed for PEM fund, they are entitled to another $4 more refund, i.e. $14. However they have to come on the actual day to claim the $4.

If there is anyone else who still wants to come, they are welcome to do so, and they have to pay only $45. Please do let me know and ask them to transfer the money to Posb savings 115-15400-1 or pay to MS Lilian Huang in school directly latest by this Wednesday 4th March 2009.

Final exam for CPTC falls on the 8th Oct, so study hard!

Come down to LTQ 2 by 11am on 9th Oct for Shell talk. PBP briefing and NAPFA is on same day too.

Also, prepare some cash for payment of bus trips to and fro CPTC on the 9th as well. Total cost to be cfm at a later date.

Do take note of the bus timings as well for ur own shift teams.

I hope updating here will be of much help to everyone.

1) No petrochem process tut this Wed. It's cancelled.

2) No AIC tut this Thurs also. Cancelled also.

3) Since AIC tut is cancelled, I'm planning to push up EWT lab on Thurs from 4pm to 9am. If cannot, I'll try with mr goh's Specialy Chem afernoon lesson (if got any). If both cannot, then I guess you'll hv 2 hrs of idling ard :/

It's confirmed we're going for EWT lab on Thurs at 9am. Venue is Q418.

4) I've sent AIC topic 5 and 7 for prining. You'll get them by Wed during lect.

5) there's ISLP viva this comin Fri at pilot plant at 3pm. Hand up ER report on the same day also.

1) Petrochem LLE report (grp report - 2 qn only). Send to Mr Chee's email by wk 9.

2) POO tutorial - do Tut 5 qn 9 (calculation on optimum exchanger cleaning days) before sch reopen

3) ISLP Emergency Response lab - individual report, hand up on the Friday of wk 12 during ISLP.

4) POO e-learning must complete until Shutdown Operation. Must complete before sch reopen.

Those who haven't complete the e-learning must come down during holidays to do. I'm arranging a date with Ms Ler so she can open up the Q406 Prosim room. Since we got class chalet on wk 9, and some of us are also going for cable ski on Friday of same wk, I'm arranging for a day on wk 10. Just one day for those who need to come back to do to complete everything. Tell me which dates you ppl are free (or not free) so I can decide fast. lol.

Btw, if ppl from other class who want to come and complete e-learning can come also. Shd be no problem.

1) This tues (27 may 08) there's pilot plant session for pchem (LLE startup and shutdown). Report at ur respective times.

2) On wed (28 may 08) there's pchem class test. Report at 12 noon at LTQ3. No lect for wed. Test is 1 hr until 1pm but can leave if u finish earlier i think.

3) after pchem class test, there's Tuas South Incineration Plant visit. Be at the porch outside south canteen (block Q side) at 1.30pm. We will be back in campus by 4.30pm tentatively.

4) there's envt presentation on thurs (29 may 08) during tut. So prepare ur slides by then.

5) ISLP valve lab on fri 30 may 08 will be at the REE lab rm (can't rmb the rm no though). Wear the usual lab attire and no need safety shoes.

POO

1) Make-up lesson will be on wk 6 Tuesday, 20th May, from 12 - 1.30pm at LTQ9. This forms 20% of final marks.

2) Class test will be on wk 8 Monday, 2nd June, during lecture time. Study Topic 1 - 4. Format is 5 essay qn (choose 4 out of 5) plus 1 compulsory stimulation qn. PFD will be provided.

Petrochem Process

1) On wk 6 Wednesday (21st May) there may not be any lessons conducted due to graduation ceremony. Once it's confirmed, I will update again.

2) Class test will be on wk 7 Wednesday (28th May) during lecture time. Study Topic 2 (up to 'Coning' only) for this. Format is 2 essay qn. No MCQs, no 'fill-in-the-blanks'. This forms 20% of final marks.

3) Common test will be on wk 11 (date to be confirmed, since this is an examinable module). Study Topic 1 & 3 only. This forms 30% of final marks.

4) Lab report for LLE line tracing is due on wk 6 Tuesday (20th May).

Specialty Chem

Got 2 more new updates.

1) For Environment & Water Tech, there's no labs until after term break. So we'll go to P703 every Thurs from now on. I'm still not sure when is the presentation though.

2) If anyone had noticed at all, there's an error in the lab schedule for AIC. It says 19 May 08 got lab session, but it's a public holiday (Vesak Day). So for wk 6, there's no lab or make up lab for that wk. Instead, our last lab session will be after term break, which is wk 12.

Will update again if got anything :)

1) This Tuesday got Pilot Plant session for Petrochem Process. Be there at ur respective timings. (and bring along safety shoes of course)

2) For ISLP, spreadsheet to be sent in to Mr Goh by this coming Friday (just do MOC and the LFL/UFL sections). Take note got another quiz this Fri, this time with marks included.

3) ISLP Lab 1 report to be handed in on wk 5. So still got plenty of time to do :)

4) This is just a reminder. DO NOT BE LATE on Fridays, coz there's viva videos for ISLP every wk, starting at 8.10am. If late, will miss the early part and to watch that missed part, muz go library search for the tape :/ (that's also if u want to watch lah, lol)

Envt notes printing - B4

Gd news! Nikki suggested me to print Environment notes from chpt 3 onwards (the 'textbook' notes + tutorials), and I'm willing to give it a try. So this is how it goes.

Mr Lim will forward me the files and then I shall do a 2x side copy at home using my home printer. I will send the notes to the print shop auntie. If all goes well, we will do it for subsequent chpt also.

I'm thinking of doing it for AIC tutorial also, for those who haven't printed yet. Let me know if evryone is agreeable to this.

I will announce after Mr Chee's pchem tut tml.

1) AIC make-up tutorial is on this coming Tuesday (29 Apr 08) from 12 - 2pm at Q406. No lessons on Thursday coz it's Labour Day.

2) AIC lab is on tml. So remember to bring your labcoat and print ur own labsheets.

3) This Friday, no Envt lecture, but there's lab session instead at the same time as our lecture. Bring ur respective labsheet I gave u the other day.

4) ISLP this wk is lab. Bring safety shoes for all labs at R105, including POO and Petrochem labs in the future. So basically, even wk is tut and odd wk is lab.

5) No Specialty chem lessons for this wk as well (coz both lect and tut/lab is on Thurs). The following wk (wk 4) lesson at 2pm is a mixture of lecture and tutorial. Will update more on this if got any changes.

Oh ya another thing, the Specialty Chem assignment is due on wk 6. Do keep that in mind as well :)

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Hope everyone is coping well. I'm sure all of u are looking forward to the 2 weeks break in mid June since everyone is stressed up by the nasty load of reports and the REE Common Test coming up.

Yea, juz tahan another week of lectures, tutorials and reports and we're home free (at least for that 2 weeks). Then u can enjoy all ur holiday plans and outings and definitely not forgetting the class bbq on the 20th.

I'm sure all of us will enjoy that bbq. So yea, juz hold on a lil bit more...

i have booked the pit already...it will be on 20th june (wed) at East Coast Park area C - Pit 19.. i booked the long pit which is $20.. u have to walk quite a distance from marine cove which is mcdonald ther..as another pit long pit is pit 28..and my friend say it haunted ther..haha

anyway..i think we will be cycling so it wont be a problem rite.. :)

for the amount to pay..we will try to fixed a amount which is affordable for all of us.. :)

As mentioned earlier about the class calling system, atiqah and I have come out with the grouping.

Last week I asked a few of you if you've done your inorg chem quiz on acid and base which was supposedly due on week 17. Well, good news to all of you who are worried. You DO NOT NEED to submit it, it's solely for revision purpose. The teacher recommended that you do try it. It would be beneficial for your coming up exam tho.

There are some changes to next week's lessons and all of u shd take note of these.

Before that, I wanna all of u to know that there is no more CEP lectures and tutorials, no more IPC lectures, no more MS lectures and no more labs. So we're juz left with IPC tut, Maths tut and Maths lec. The good news is that all of these 3 lessons will be brought to Tuesday, 6 Feb 07 at a special timing.

B4 I start, I hope everyone enjoyed Feonna's video of Hisyam and Angel's pillow fight. Very hilarious one.

I hav jz received a reply fr Mrs Kan and will let u all know wad she said.

She wants the soft copy of the assignments in by wk12 and the hard copies by wk13. The correct email address that u are supposed to send to is swatchwatch88@gmail.com.
So sry for all the confusion caused. Really my bad. Copying and rmbering the wrong stuffs. Pardon me on that.

Okay, i just want to let everyone know that i heard a lot of comments about the games, and the most common comment is that we should not play those camping or orientation ice breaking kinda games in chalet. haha, not pointing fingers here, but i personally feel that its a bit childish and weird to play camping games in chalet cos chalet is not a camp.. haha.

And many people say that we are total absolute nerds
cos normal folks don't play ice breaking games in chalet

so!
Can i confirm here that we are going to play card games and those sports games???

Chalet Games Highlight

Gel has thought of some games and had wanted me to update them on the blog.

Game 1: Air Raid! (i jz tot of a better name )

First game is this teamwork game that require u to hav a strategy to win the game (like duhzzz). There will be 3 teams and they will be provided with a team of plastic soldiers, straws and cotton buds. Members of the team take turns to atk the enemy soldiers by inserting a cotton bud into the straw and blow it at the enemy soldiers. (Like bombing them fr the air) When a soldier collapses, it means he is dead. (like duhzzz) And u can only kill them using ur 'cotton bud gun'. If collapse not bcoz of kena hit by the ammo, he's not considered dead.

Surely u wouldn't want ur soldiers to be sitting ducks right? So u muz think of a way to minimise the deaths of ur soldiers or counter atk (build bomb shelters, barbed wire etc etc)

Game 2: Double Wacko

Im sure all of u know wad wacko is. Now that everyone knows everyone's names, u would say "Aiyah! Wont kena hit one lah!" But this is double wacko.

Everyone will be seated in 2 circles (inner and outer circle). The person in the inner circle is basically, a sitting duck who has to be protected by a person who is sitting behind him (he's fr the outer circle). The back person muz take the name of the front person and retaliate by shouting another person's name (only those in the inner circle) if he's called.

Lets say u hav Aug sitting in the inner circle and Suanz at the outer circle. Suanz muz take Aug's name for the time being. So he'll hav to respond when Aug's name is called. Suanz will hav to call another person who is sitting in the inner circle. Lets say he calls Pei Ying and behind her is Wang Ri. Now Wang Ri muz retaliate and call another person.

If lets say Suanz didnt respond to "Augustine!", Aug will kena whacked by the wacko and Aug will the nxt wacko. Suanz will hav to move in front and the previous wacko seats behind Suanz.

When a same person is the wacko 3 times, he/she will hav to do a forfeit which is agreed by everyone.

To add even more difficulty into the game, the back person will not respond to the person in front's name but a person on the left/right (maybe 2 ppl fr his left/right) of the person in front.

So, we hav Aug (front) and Suanz (back) again. On Aug's left is lets say, Hisyam. So Suanz muz respond to "Hisyam!" and not "Augustine!" If Suanz fail to respond, Aug will kena. So when the positions of the ppl changes, the name u hav to respond changes too.

If u all are confused by my descriptions, we will demo on the day itself.

On another note, we'll oso consider the games suggested on the tagboard (like that y@N's (not me) masak masak suggestion -.-)

hello! How's everybody doing? Hope the last blog updates have been useful for you all so far.
Thanks a bunch suf for faithfully doing all these even though blog is the last thing we usually think of when we need class info.

A few updates for those of you who were absent on last wednesday sem proj due to CEP test the next day, this is what Mr. Luda said - on week 12, the first sem proj session after holiday that falls on 4th January 2007 is the due date for your complete presentation. We have to get our proj done by that day even though it's not the actual presentation day. I guess we will be having mini presentation.

So coming holidays is the time for us to have fun (chalet) and also preparation time for sem porj and Material Scince individual reports!

Right now i'm sure all of us are mugging hard for common test. All the best everyone!

Do take note that there is a BRM CS module selection briefing on this coming Wed from 3.15pm to 4pm at LTQ10. This briefing is important as it concerns our modules we take in 2nd yr. I'm not sure of wad BRM CS stands for though but do come down for it.

Also, there is CEP quiz on this coming Fri at 9am. Topics tested are topic 1 and 2 and this quiz covers 10% of overall module marks.

Yesterday 8 Nov 2006 there were quite a number of people absent for CEP and Inorganic Chem. Both teachers warned us not to skip any tutorial because it is extremely critical especially CEP, you'll be lacking so much behind if you miss one session.

The teachers are always asking me "why" if you guys are absent so ya, hope you can help me by coming to class regularly, ya.

OK ppl. We hav decided where to go for class outing. Unfortunately it isnt among the choices we gave in the previous entry. Newae, we r gg out for a MOVIE!!! We r gg out on either 2nd, 4th or 6th October (mon, wed, fri). We meet up at anytime fr 1 - 2pm at Cathay New Cinema ( near Plaza Singapura) or Lido (Shaw House). Movie to be watched will be decided on the day itself. Pls tag ur choices on the tagboard again. Den we will finalise the outing details.

And hope u guys hav obtained a decent GPA for this sem. Congratz to those with high GPA and those who don get such a high GPA, work harder nxt sem. kk tats all for now.

ATTENTION EVERYONE!

I wonder if you guys still wanna go for class outing?
yes! here are some suggestions of where are the places that we can go for classouting.

• Sentosa - siloso beach( sun sand and the beach)
• Escape theme park( roller coasters!)
• BBQ at east coast park( eat eat and EAT! ok we can also cycle there and there's sun sand and beach too!)
• Downtown east -Wild wild wet( freakin wet)
• Singapore zoo ( this is suggested by sufyan!)
• Bird park( ok we'll be acting as tourist)
• Ice skating at jurong ( hell i do not noe where that is!)
• Bukit timah hill HIking( suggested by sufyan again ...)

Ok in the meantime,these are the few options if there's anymore suggestions please let me ,augestine or sufyan know.

Hey all. Wei Suan had told me juz now tat Ms Ler wanna ask us for our T-shirt size. We all will be getting a T shirt some time nxt time, i dono when. Details abt payment oso havent receive yet. She juz wan our T shirt size. So all of u will tag ur size (XS, S, M, L, XL bla bla bla) on the tagboard, like wad Aug had indicated. A compilation of t shirt sizes will be made soon.

Report for orgchem tut at 2pm tml, followed by biochem tut at 3pm for D and F graders. At 5pm will be the class test on genetic engineering, stereoisometric drugs, cholesterol metabolism and HPLC. Juz an MCQ test, so do it well.

There isnt anymore orgchem lab sessions for this sem. However, be reminded that the lab reports for ester synthesis and nylon making is both due TML. So, get it done by then.

Oh yes, complete ur sem reports and personal refections by end of this wk. PED exam is on this coming thurs. This is extremely impt!

I wish u all gd luk for the upcoming weeks. its gonna be tough but u can make it in 1 piece.
